As part of efforts to improve the standard of education in the Evalue-Gwira Constituency, the member of parliament of the area, Catherine Abelema Afeku, is using her share of MP’s GETfund to prvide educational facilities for the people. The facilities include the construction of a brand new class room and early childhood development centre at Awukyire, reconstruction of adilapidated day of a teachers bungalow at Anagye.

Mrs. Afeku  has also provided furniture for the Anglican Primary School in Axim, all these at the cost of GH30,000.00 Speaking in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE, Mrs. Afeku said all these major decisions were taken in consultation with the Nzema East Municipal Director of Education, Mariam Quansah, community elders and opinion leaders and the youth of the beneficiary communities.

Inspecting the various projects about two weeks ago, the inhabitants of the communities expressed their satisfaction with the progress of  the work so far and they were confident the facilities would be commissioned for Christmas celebrations in December. They were grateful to Mrs. Afeku for judiciously using her share of the GETfund to spread the projects in different communities.

The MP used the occasion to show her appreciation to the constituents for their unflinching support and  promised to continue to champion their cause for the development of the constituency. A former spokesperson for infrastructure under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) Administration, Mrs. Afeku Further pledged to work harmoniously with the constituents to project the image of Evalue-Gwira Constituency.

Catherine Abelema Afeku, Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue-Gwira in the Western Region has reiterated the need for her constituences to bury their political and ethnic diffrences and work in unity to develop the area. She said since no one except the constituents themselves could work to develop the constituency, there was the need to mobilize all internal human and material resources to develop their communities and the constituency as a whole.

Hon. Afeku gave this advice these when she inaugurated a wooden bridged spanning Rivers Nyamebuli at Adekelezo in the constituency. The bridge was constructed with money from the MP’s share of Common Fund and would serve the people of Ahunyame and Averbo, both in the constituency.

Ho. afeku expressed her gratitude to the people for turning up in numbers for the inauguration ceremony and appealed to them to co-operate with her office to ensure the area’s development.
